Obstacles at work (whether on the employee's side or the employer's side) are among the frequently utilized labor law institutes and represent a constantly relevant topic. A topic that, in connection with the spread of COVID-19, has taken on a completely different dimension – the applicability of various obstacles (especially on the employer's side) has become the subject of numerous discussions, other obstacles (e.g., quarantine) have perhaps been discussed in greater depth for the very first time, and other obstacles (e.g., parental leave) have gained an entirely different dimension during this time. Some obstacles at work have also been affected by the significant amendment to the Labor Code effective from July 30, 2020, or January 1, 2021. In more detail regarding the content of the publication, the author approaches the issue of obstacles at work comprehensively – addressing both obstacles on the employee's side and those on the employer's side, obstacles regulated by the Labor Code, as well as those where the focus of regulation lies in other legal provisions, and does not overlook obstacles that are not legislatively regulated.
