Description
P. Miroslav Šimáček was transferred by the State Security to Příchovice in the Jizera Mountains due to his work with youth, where he received his last opportunity for priestly service. Initially an empty and unwelcoming rectory gradually became a sought-after place for several generations of young people from all over what was then Czechoslovakia. The key to their hearts was acceptance, truthfulness, friendship, a sincere effort to live according to the Gospel, and a genuine search for and finding of God in a living community. The book captures memories of specific personalities, key moments, and lines of events in M. Šimáček's life that enabled the creation and existence of not only the Příchovice Crossroads but also other centers of youth life, particularly the Youth Section of the Czech Bishops' Conference. The text is supplemented with a number of photographs and experiences of people who visited the Příchovice rectory as early as the 1980s and continue to return there today.
