The book Spirituality of the Doctor and Bioethics is not merely a synthesis of already known bioethical teachings, but it brings a new method of thinking about the personality of the doctor and their work. There is no similar publication on the Czech book market. Its content builds on the author's previous publication Ecological Spirituality and Ethics. The reader will become acquainted with the philosophical-theological assumptions of the relationships between doctor and patient, care for the mental and spiritual health of the doctor, reflections on the spiritual background of choosing the medical profession, sources of inspiration for the spirituality of the doctor, and the significance of virtue ethics for doctors. Ethical questions and forecasts for the development of humanity and bioethics at the threshold of new technologies are also included. Equally interesting is the reflection on the relationship between spirituality and neuroscience and their synthesis in so-called neurotheology. The book is a suitable study material for students at universities, medical faculties, health and social faculties, theological faculties, and secondary medical schools.
