Description
The fairy tales in this book are part of the Ellen Key collection at the Royal Library in Stockholm and have never been published before, not even in Swedish. Written between 1868 and 1873 by the then young Ellen Key for her younger sister Ada, they are titled 'real fairy tales' (i.e., unlike classic fairy tales, they deal with deeper reflections on the meaning of life) and their content is a fascinating foreshadowing of the ideas that Ellen later became famous for in her more significant works. In particular, the fairy tale about the Tide and the Rose, originally titled 'The Story of the Wave', is a profound reflection on the roles of men and women in the world and on meaningful life in general.
