Description
The residents of Hanácká Bedihošť knew Antonín Pospíšil as a decent, hardworking man who loved his wife. Unfortunately for him, he inherited a severely problematic father-in-law, with whom he and his wife shared a house. For decades, they yielded to the tyrant. This changed on March 16, 2016. "My Hana confided to me through her sobs that her father attacked her at home. He was looking for newspapers, ran up to the first floor, and screamed like a madman. He shoved his daughter against the radiator, drove his knee into her stomach, and began to choke her with both hands. At the last moment, she mustered some strength and called out 'Daddy.' He then somewhat regained his composure and loosened his grip." These lines were written by the now seventy-year-old Antonín Pospíšil to journalist Ivana Karásková from the Břeclav prison, where he is serving a thirteen-year sentence for murder. In a series of other letters, he detailed the psychological terror they were subjected to at home. After the father-in-law physically attacked his daughter, the senior lost control. However, he chose the worst possible solution. "Something snapped in my brain, and I pulled out a gun. I shot Ludvík in the temple. In the frenzy that engulfed me, I reloaded, approached him from the other side, and shot again." The author's notes from the convicted man were supplemented with court documents, testimonies from relatives, and opinions...
