Description
What comes to mind when you hear the name Sázava? The river, the town, the Sázava Monastery (the fourth in Bohemia), Saint Procopius, the chapel of Saint Procopius, the devil plowing the furrows, but also Votočnice, Šternberk, and Skalice of the silver mountains... Let us transport ourselves to ancient times when the Sázava region was inhabited by Sázava monks, nobility, and the most numerous part of the population – mostly poor cottage owners and farmers. How did they actually live? What joys and sorrows did they have? And above all – who helped them and where did they find support in their laborious lives? Truthfully, they did not have it easy in this regard. And perhaps that is why they clothed their desires, wishes, and unfulfilled hopes in the words of legends, where the poor attain justice with the help of supernatural forces and evil is punished. Whether it was a magical old man, Saint Procopius, or a little devil who helped or punished...
