Já jsem Dobrý Pastýř – Surma Barbara (2018)

The book "I Am the Good Shepherd" by Polish authors Barbara Surma and P. Krzysztof Biela SJ is the first publication translated into Czech that comprehensively introduces Czech readers to the globally widespread catechetical program called Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. The program is three-tiered and is intended for children aged three to twelve. This publication presents the first level of the program, which has proven effective for children up to eight years old in our country. The subtitle of the book suggests that it is not just about theory. The first part introduces the biblical, theological, and pedagogical foundations of the program, followed by a practical section that includes a clear table of contents and educational tasks for catechesis, an introduction to six basic thematic blocks, and detailed scenarios including a list of necessary didactic materials for a total of fifty-nine catecheses that are presented to children over three years. The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program was created more than sixty years ago in Italy. Its authors were theologian Sofia Cavalletti and Montessori educator Gianna Gobbi.
