Description
The Czech-language book follows the authors’ discovery that ancestors from both their families fought in Russia during the First World War in the 5th Czechoslovak Rifle Regiment of T. G. Masaryk. This family connection awakened their deeper interest in the legionnaires and the history of “their” regiment. Diary entries accompanied by photographs and wartime postcards supplement archival facts with authentic personal recollections of life before the First World War, fighting in Austrian uniform, captivity, the Siberian odyssey of the Czechoslovak Legions and the long voyage home by ship.
