In the Psychoanalytic Library edition of the Czech Psychoanalytic Society, in collaboration with Triton Publishing, the book by John Steiner, "Psychic Refuge: Pathological Organizations in Psychotic, Neurotic, and Borderline Patients," is published as the third volume. This text has become something of a "bestseller" in psychoanalytic literature and has been translated into several languages. The book has managed to provide not only a new perspective on the theory and technique of psychoanalytic work but, more importantly, an understanding of the difficulties experienced by patients who, along with their therapists, embark on the challenging journey toward psychological change. The concepts contained in the book have already become an integral part of psychoanalytic theory, reflecting current clinical practice – working with individuals with more severe personality issues (borderline personality organization, narcissistic disorders, as if personalities).
