Description
The ketogenic diet is based on a scientifically proven fact: when the body lacks sufficient blood sugar, it turns to its own fat reserves for the necessary energy. The liver begins to produce ketones from fatty acids, which serve as an energy source, and this natural state is called ketosis. To achieve this, it is necessary to reduce the proportion of carbohydrates in the diet to a minimum and replace them with proteins and healthy fats. The author fell ill several years ago with autoimmune Hashimoto's disease, which affects the thyroid gland. She had no energy, and even though she took prescribed medications and exercised almost daily, she continued to gain weight. Meanwhile, she avoided fatty foods and adhered to nutritional recommendations: she exercised more and ate less. And it still didn't work. Eventually, she decided to eliminate sugar, grains, and processed foods from her diet and began to follow a ketogenic approach to eating based on natural foods. This cookbook is intended for those who are just starting with the ketogenic diet; in addition to recipes, it includes a brief and easily understandable introduction and various tips and advice.
