Description
Alcoholic Memoirs A harrowing literary confession from a famous author is surprisingly a story about alcohol. Jack London describes his experiences with drinking from his teenage years, when he worked as a sailor, to the time he became a wealthy and successful writer. He captures various moments, from bar bravado to the desperate drowning of a drunk in the ocean, essentially reconciling with death. It's no wonder that the book undermined his reputation as a pure adventurer and a successful author of legendary books. He writes about his fascination with alcohol, but his story is primarily a warning. Jack London was convinced he had his addiction under control, yet his tragic death from a morphine overdose at just forty years old was the result of a lost battle with alcohol.
