Description

On the stormy north of England lies Windy Hill. An estate of heathlands and wetlands, where people are as untamed as the surrounding nature. A land where the graves still haunt and where passion consumes the hearts of the in love. This historical novel takes place at Thrushcross Grange and Windy Hill from the second half of the 18th century to the beginning of the 19th century. The impressive novel is a masterful psychological study of a man who dedicated his life to revenge. The author vividly describes the environment in which the hero grew up, clarifying the reasons why a normal boy developed into a creature in an atmosphere of hatred, repaying all imagined and real grievances in an inhuman way and knowing no mercy, not even for himself. The only being, a woman, capable of making him a normal man, marries his rival and dies under dramatic circumstances. This burns all bridges between the hero and the surrounding world, and the story of fanatical revenge against all members of the beloved woman's family begins. Emily Brontë, the younger sister of Charlotte Brontë, published her only novel in 1847 under the male pseudonym Ellis Bell. A year later, at the age of just thirty, she died.
