Description
This second volume of Thoughts continues the collection of quotations, statements and reflections by Václav Klaus. The first book was prepared in 2021 for his 80th birthday by his long-time collaborator Tomáš Břicháček, who mapped in detail the intellectual world of this important figure in modern Czech history. Five years later, for Klaus’s 85th birthday, Břicháček has compiled a continuation drawn from Klaus’s speeches, articles and publications from the intervening period. The book follows exactly where the first volume ended, presenting selected statements, reflections and commentaries from May 2021 to March 2026. More than a mere compilation of quotations, it offers a testimony to Klaus’s intellectual steadiness, courage and deep concern for the fate of society. His statements are wise, perceptive and sometimes provocative, but always thought-provoking, encouraging readers to question what seems self-evident and seek their own answers.
