Description
Every round anniversary of the most significant event in our modern history, November 17, 1989, inspires many to reflect and to view this event from a slightly altered perspective. Former President of the Czech Republic Václav Klaus, following his books on the round anniversaries of November from 2009, 2014, and 2019, returns after five years with a new essay, this time for the thirty-fifth anniversary. He is not focused on historical details and historiography, although those are also important, as many have forgotten certain things and others do not know them at all. The former Czech president and one of the key figures of the post-November changes is interested in today. He views it through the lens of the events of that time and the positive changes that the year 1989 enabled and were subsequently implemented in our country. The fundamental idea of the anniversary text is the thesis that our post-November path forward has somewhat stalled. Václav Klaus, through his essay, seeks an answer to the question of whether we are still moving forward since November 1989, or not?
