Description
Czechoslovakia has been a thing of the past for thirty years. A past that is still being worked on today. Partly honestly, analytically, and neutrally, and partly purposefully as a tool for settling political scores. This is also why this book is being published, containing primarily precise and authentic testimonies from the main actor of those events – Václav Klaus, as well as texts from two of his close collaborators – Jiří Weigl and Ladislav Jakl. The Brno Tugendhat villa became a symbol of the end of the federation, along with the media shortcuts surrounding the discussions that took place there thirty years ago. Although these discussions were of extraordinary importance, with the thesis that it was there that the division of Czechoslovakia was decided, this needs to be debated. Such a shortcut is ahistorical and ignores the events that preceded these discussions. The division ended with Tugendhat, not began.
