Description
The Václav Klaus Institute presents an extraordinary publication – Young Economists (on) Václav Klaus, subtitled Festschrift for his 75th birthday. As the title suggests, the book is a collection of texts by young Czech economists – students of Prof. Václav Klaus – in honor of his significant life anniversary. All authors strive to work with traditional "Klausian" themes in original ways and describe some current social phenomena through his lens. This publication is also entirely unique in that, beyond the (expected) economic dimension, all texts reveal the personal level of the authors' relationship with Prof. Václav Klaus, their teacher who influenced and shaped their economic thinking. In the book, you will read what our young economists wrote about the Czech transformation and property rights, the use of economics in foreign policy, the decline of economic freedom in the EU, efforts to abolish cash, current monetary policy, as well as global warming and public finances.
