Description
A workday in the life of a small clerk set against the backdrop of a small museum. This novel, straddling the line between travesty and political lamentation, reveals the banality of power within psychologically taxing bureaucratic apparatuses and depicts the absurd world of institutions as a space of pressure, where the paranoia and autocracy of senior officials clash with the fear of subordinates and the revolutionary romanticism of eternal idealists. Institutions are magical, self-contained mechanisms where everyone must constantly affirm their position and loyalty to the hierarchy to avoid being exposed as ineffective, unreliable, or rebellious. Even in a small collective, it quickly becomes clear that overcoming general resignation and forcing oneself and others into protest action will be more complicated than it might initially seem.
