Libero - Psychedelická groteska – Štorm František (2025)

The impetus for the creation of this book, which far exceeds the usual concept of a catalog, was an exhibition in Liberec in 2024 curated by Luděk Lukuvka. From the initial meeting, a bold showcase of painting, drawing, and unique animation emerged, instead of the planned typography. František Štorm (*1966) is among the leading world typographers and type designers. Alongside his long-standing work in applied graphics, he has always engaged in free creation, particularly linocuts and drawings, but in recent years also larger format paintings. The book Libero captures Štorm's creative surge of recent years, where graphic design, book illustration, and commissions naturally coexist with free creation. In this, oil paintings and watercolors inspired by, for example, South Bohemian ponds or travel experiences are increasingly prominent. Libero also reflects the breadth of Štorm's artistic scope in the visual representation of musical activities, through which he reaches a large circle of his fans. Readers can thus enjoy wondrous, sometimes grotesquely psychedelic works alongside imaginative graphics and typography, whose morphology is the defining gesture of the author.
