Description
Renowned photographer Tomáš Míček, who has already delighted us with many photographic publications, presents in this lavish book forty-one remarkable species of trees, the most beautiful millennial natural monuments from all continents of planet Earth. The charm of trees is captured in almost a mystical way. In this expanded volume with texts in Czech, German, and English, thirteen new species of trees have been added. The motivation behind Míček's often demanding expeditions is undoubtedly aesthetic enchantment, amazement at the diversity and expressive power of trees, whether it is the rebellious twists of the Greek olive tree, the giant sequoias in California, the bizarre baobabs in Africa, or the Australian yellow caps. Although the author occasionally addresses the theme of the forest, he primarily focuses on individual trees. His aim is not only to anchor them in nature but also to highlight their defiant struggle for survival in often inhospitable environments. In many places, the photographer pays attention to enchanting details, such as the structure of the bark and the multilayered tangle of roots. This results in almost abstract images that reveal to us the 'fabric' of nature.
