Description
Stanislav Struhar (1964) is one of the modern Austrian storytellers of today. He was born in Gottwaldov, now Zlín, and in 1988 emigrated to Austria with his wife. He debuted in Austria with the poetry trilogy Stará zahrada, and in the following years published prose works. In the Czech Republic, his early novels Rukopis and Opuštěná zahrada were published, followed by Czech translations of his German-written works Hledání štěstí, Cizinky, Váha světla, and Důvěrně známé hvězdy domova. He is one of the prominent German-speaking writers of Czech origin, his literary work is supported by scholarships and has received numerous accolades. He lives in Vienna. The book Barvy minulosti presents three delicately composed short stories that capture the fragility of human destinies against the backdrop of the impressive beauty of northern Italy, southern France, and Vienna. The work on the stories was supported by creative writing scholarships from the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, Arts and Culture.
