Description
Stanislav Struhar was born in 1964 in Gottwaldov, now Zlín. In 1988, he emigrated with his wife to Austria, and their son could only follow after the fall of the Iron Curtain. He settled in Vienna, accepted Austrian citizenship, and German became his literary language. In his novels, he deals with the integration of foreigners into a new society, the loss of home or mother tongue, and he has become part of the small but intriguing family of Czech authors writing in German. His latest novel, The Weight of Light, set against the captivating backdrop of Rome and Liguria, tells the story of a young Austrian who, after experiencing two tragedies, decides to start a new life abroad.
