This Czech-language textbook introduces law students to the basic legal concepts that generally characterise the legal system and how it operates. Understanding concepts such as positive law, sources of law, legal rules, legal relationships, the implementation and application of law, breaches of law, legal liability, legality and the rule of law helps future lawyers navigate positive law and apply it in practice. The book aims to teach future lawyers how to think about law rather than simply know its specific content; studying individual legal institutions and current legislation is left to specialised branches of law. It is intended primarily for students of law faculties, but can also be used by students of other schools with a legal focus or by anyone wishing to become familiar with basic legal concepts, for example when preparing for entrance examinations.
