Description
The monograph examines individual aspects of the real power of the judiciary with historical and international comparative implications. It focuses on the close interrelationship between law and politics, specifically the actions of courts and judges in a political context. The author critically analyzes power relations and the ambitions of the judiciary towards other powers, such as legislative, executive, as well as control, media, and self-governing authority. In the outlined context, it addresses individual actors and their mutual interactions, all through the prism of the fundamental question: What is the power of the judiciary? The book is divided into a general part containing an analysis of key concepts and a special part encompassing four dimensions. The first dimension deals with the power of the judiciary in an institutional sense, the second in decision-making activities. The third dimension addresses the political and social engagement of judges and the public presentation of their opinions. The final fourth dimension focuses on the prosecution of politicians and interventions in the independence of the judiciary from their side.
