Description

This second, updated edition of a constitutional law textbook by a team of authors from the Faculty of Law at Palacký University Olomouc examines individual institutions of the constitutional law of the Czech Republic and provides information on the organisation and functioning of a democratic constitutional state. The book is divided into 17 chapters and follows the structure of the Constitution of the Czech Republic (Constitutional Act No. 1/1993 Coll.). It also discusses the constitutional development of Czechoslovakia after 1989, the relationship between domestic, European and international law, and the constitutional regulation of state security and states of emergency. The contents are in Czech. The publication is primarily intended for law students, but it also offers useful information to students of other humanities subjects and to anyone interested in democracy, constitutions, the organisation and functioning of a democratic constitutional state, and current political affairs. It is followed by the book Fundamental Rights, which examines the constitutionally affirmed relationship between citizens and the state as set out in the Charter of Fundamental Rights and Freedoms and the laws based on it.
