Description
Roman legal sources, which remain an inexhaustible source of inspiration for modern legal systems to this day, utilized the application of legal principles and rules to a greater extent than modern law. Therefore, the main contribution of this collection is a detailed analysis of the origin, content, and application of several of them. ***** The texts will provide readers with a cross-sectional introduction to individual principles from the field of legal acts (fraus legis facta), from the field of property rights (servitus servitutis esse non potest), inheritance law (semel heres, semper heres), family law (unformalized ritual of domestic court; personal exceptions for members of the royal family), procedural law (non est obligatorium contra bonos mores praestitum iuramentum), obligation law (nomina ossibus inhaerent), criminal law (nullum crimen sine lege), and finally canon law (dispens in beatification processes). ***** The authors of the contributions are legal Romanists from the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic, who met in 2023 in Olomouc for their 23rd international conference, maintaining professional and friendly relations even after the dissolution of the Czechoslovak federation.
