Description
The collection of eleven articles from the constitutional law seminar held in April 2022 by the Faculty of Law of Charles University in Pec pod Snezkou thematically focuses on the activities of the so-called third Constitutional Court, that is, the Constitutional Court since 2013, with judges mostly appointed by President Miloš Zeman. Judges of the Constitutional Court are appointed by the President of the Republic with the consent of the Senate for a term of ten years, so during the typically ten-year terms of Czech presidents, judges from 1993 to 2003 were appointed by Václav Havel ("the first Constitutional Court"), judges active from 2003 to 2013 were mostly appointed by Václav Klaus ("the second Constitutional Court"), and judges serving since 2013 are appointed by Miloš Zeman ("the third Constitutional Court"). The period of the third Constitutional Court is drawing to a close, and thus the time for reflection is slowly beginning.
