Description
The Christian story of people striving to follow Jesus Christ is, despite many shortcomings, still a fascinating tale. The Czech giant of Christian philosophy and theology, Vladimír Boublík, titled his publication Meeting with Jesus and God's People. Those who encounter Jesus, like Paul of Tarsus, begin their life story with God. The Belgian philosopher and theologian Edward Schillebeeckx phrased it a bit differently, naming his work People as God's Story. I am convinced that the expression God's people is a fortunate one, not only because it corresponds to the expression in the second book of the 1983 Code of Canon Law, but also because the legal norm is like a gift that, when unwrapped and seen, reveals its beauty and rarity. In this publication, we unwrap the legal norms concerning God's people and discover its beauty, rarity, rules, laws, methods, weight, and vulnerability. This highlights the novelty, freshness, and originality of Christianity even in contemporary times. However, it should be added that the book is a canonical legal treatise on God's people from a Catholic perspective.
