The publication presents the basic aspects of private international law from the perspective of the applicable law in private law relationships with an international element, as well as from the perspective of international civil procedure law. In today's world of economic, commercial, cultural, and social interconnectedness, legal questions increasingly come to the forefront, which can be summarized in three fundamental areas for private law: Which state's courts will decide the matter? According to what law? Under what conditions will a court's decision from one state be recognized or enforced in the territory of another state? This book answers these questions primarily from the perspective of European Union law, as the impact of its legislative activity in the area of private international law is fundamentally significant and cannot be overlooked – particularly concerning regulations unifying contractual and non-contractual obligations, family law issues, maintenance, inheritance law, and also regulations governing international jurisdiction of courts and the recognition and enforcement of judgments.
