The publication analyzes the transformation of the role of collective management in the digital world. It first presents the regulation of collective management within the Czech and EU legal frameworks and assesses it in light of the development of modern technologies, changes in the use of protected subjects, and related judicial practices. It further identifies and analyzes practical problems of collective management – contractual relationships, the monopoly of collective management, the specifics of individual collective management regimes, or the possibility of licensing for multiple territories. The publication also examines alternative ways of compensating rights holders that have emerged in recent years.
