Description
The second volume of the textbook by authors from the Department of Constitutional Law at Charles University in Prague brings together the entire constitutional law material in one volume. In addition to chapters on the development of Czechoslovak statehood, it particularly includes an explanation of individual institutes of valid constitutional law. The main theme is the Constitution of the Czech Republic and the Charter of Fundamental Rights and Freedoms. The core of the work consists of an analysis of all constitutional bodies with an emphasis on their mutual relationships. Special attention is given to elections, the legislative process, and proceedings before the Constitutional Court, as well as the constitutional foundations of the relationship between domestic and international law and the related constitutional aspects of the Czech Republic's membership in the European Union. At the same time, a comprehensive explanation of the rights, freedoms, and obligations of citizens is provided, that is, the relationship between the citizen and the state in the Czech Republic, as contained in constitutional norms and implementing legislation, including their reflection in court jurisprudence. The reader will particularly appreciate the comprehensive approach to the processing of individual topics, which includes a critical analysis of their application in political practice. The third edition of the textbook has been expanded to include a chapter summarizing significant changes in the sources of constitutional law between 2015 and 2020. The textbook is intended not only for students...
