Description
The tribute to Jiří Rajmund Tretera is published on the occasion of the 80th birthday of the professor of ecclesiastical law, confessional law, and the legal history of churches at the Faculty of Law of Charles University. Prof. Tretera revived the teaching of these subjects at the law faculty in 1990 and has been teaching them ever since. The tribute includes contributions from 36 authors, students, and friends of Professor Tretera. The authors come not only from the Czech Republic but also from Slovakia, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Poland. Their contributions primarily concern the fields of ecclesiastical law, confessional law, and the legal history of churches. Contributions from other authors relate to biblical studies, Roman law, legal theory, environmental law, financial law, and health law. A personal dedication was written by Dominik Cardinal Duka OP, Archbishop of Prague and Primate of the Czech Republic, who, like the honoree, is a member of the Dominican Order and has shared more than forty years of friendship with the honoree. The tribute for the 80th birthday of Prof. Jiří Rajmund Tretera, a leading still-active teacher at the oldest university in Central Europe, is a homage to ecclesiastical law as a fundamental pillar of global legal culture and simultaneously a testament to its connection with other legal fields and the popularity it enjoys...
