Description
The book is the first Czech monograph dealing with the law of complementary and alternative medicine at the intersection of law, social medicine, and health philosophy. The publication is based on the constitutionally guaranteed freedom of choice in health care and various ways of health care, including natural or traditional methods. Significant parts focus on the rational concept of complementary and alternative medicine, especially natural and traditional medicine. Attention is paid in detail to pharmaceutical health care and medical devices in this area, as well as to social law and public health insurance. Subchapters are dedicated to health services according to the rules of science, the concept of evidence-based medicine, technical standards, legal issues of placebo, homeopathy, anthroposophical medicine, therapeutic pedagogy, art therapy, etc. Four chapters address legal issues of traditional Chinese medicine, including acupuncture. The work builds on the author's previous monograph, The Law of Natural Healing, published by Leges in 2018. A thematic continuation will follow in the upcoming book Controversies of Law, Health, and Family.
