Description
The practical guide introduces readers to the legal regulation of so-called transportation applications of the sharing economy, which are modern mobile phone programs known as BlaBlaCar, Uber, and Bolt (formerly known as Taxify). After a brief description of the phenomenon of the sharing economy, the principles of how these programs work, and their context within similar services, the existing legal framework for these services is outlined from the perspective of European Union law. The core part of the publication deals with local legal issues arising from the innovative nature of the described services, as the Czech legal system is often not prepared for such services. Attention is particularly paid to the analysis of the existence of relevant public law regulations governing the mentioned transportation applications, as well as other legal fields, along with relevant judicial decision-making practices. The publication serves as a suitable introduction to the legal questions surrounding the operation of transportation applications in the Czech Republic, both for all users of these services and, given the increasing popularity of these services, for the general public.
