Description
The new textbook is primarily intended for law students, applied linguistics students, lawyers, interpreters, and translators. The individual chapters briefly present the fundamental topics of EU law, starting from history - the beginnings of integration - to the internal market and judicial cooperation in civil and criminal matters. The chapters also include authentic texts (short excerpts from treaties and judgments) and summarized case law. Working with the textbook will enable students to master the terminology related to the EU legal system, understand more complex authentic texts, and discuss basic issues of EU law at a good level that is linguistically and legally sound in contact with a native speaker. The texts are supplemented with tasks that allow students to acquire legal concepts and practice their use in the context of European law. The second part of each chapter is designed to support language skills: students will find explanations of grammar and sentence structure necessary for working with legal texts, as well as exercises to reinforce and practice these linguistic phenomena (i.e., grammatical and syntactic) - always in connection with the concepts and content of the given chapter.
