The book comprehensively and clearly processes the development of the legal institution of citizenship in the territory of today's Czech Republic from its establishment to the present. The author describes and explains, in socio-political contexts, the material basis of the institution, which has changed over time depending on social and political events, especially during the dynamic 20th century. Attention is paid to all revisions in the conception of the institution, pivotal changes, and the incorporation of new instruments into the legal regulation. This is all done in necessary comparison with developments in neighboring European countries. A significant space is also devoted to the current legal regulation, Act No. 186/2013 Coll.
