RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) contactless chips serve for the unique identification of objects based on radio frequencies, without contact and at a distance. The monograph addresses privacy protection in RFID applications. The author provides a detailed description of RFID technology, offers an interpretation of the concepts of privacy and personal data protection. Among the many existing applications of contactless RFID technology, the book covers three main areas: commerce and services, healthcare and health-related services, and personal identification. The author conducts an analysis of the right to privacy in specific applications of RFID technology. In cases where a specific application is found to interfere with private and family life, it evaluates whether this interference is proportionate in relation to the rights or protected interests of others, or the interests of society as a whole.
