Description
Despite the fact that the Czech Republic is often cited as one of the most atheistic countries in Europe, churches have their place here. Their operation is governed by a separate law on churches and religious societies. Is the status of churches therefore privileged? Does the legal order treat them differently than "ordinary" associations (formerly civic associations)? Do churches have different types and scopes of rights compared to associations? How are churches established? What role does public administration play in their establishment and functioning? Is their establishment different from that of associations, and if so, is this different method of establishment constitutionally compliant? Is the legal regulation of the establishment and functioning of churches in the Czech Republic prepared for the separation of church and state? This monograph attempts to answer these and other questions, addressing many similar issues while also posing numerous questions and leaving the answers to the perceptive reader.
