Description
In Tantric Kali, the author presents the mythology, practices, and rituals of worshiping Kali within the Kaula tantric tradition of Kashmiri Shaivism. He reveals the practices of Vamachara, commonly known as the Left-Hand Path, but more accurately translated as the Path of Shakti. In this tradition, the body itself is the temple of Kali, and thus it is not necessary to reject or deny the body in order to realize unity with the Divine. Instead, nothing is considered pure or impure, and everything is free from rules. This path, directly focused on working with forbidden emotions and behaviors, allows the adept to transcend obstacles on the path to liberation through sexual union. According to the Kaula Upanishad: 'In your behavior, do the opposite of what the rules dictate, yet remain aware.' This is the essence of tantra. Kali is the absolute reality manifested as a woman intoxicated by desire; she liberates the tantric adept from all desires except the desire to unite with the Divine.
