Description
The stories about the lives of noble officials at aristocratic castles take place in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Nine stories narrate the lives of the lordly officials and their families. Their noble lords serve as a model for their way of life, and they strive to live at a certain level, which includes formal address and mangled German words. However, their standard of living sharply declines when they retire or if a woman with children becomes widowed. They try to marry off their daughters as advantageously as possible, but often this does not succeed, and many remain old maids.
