Description
The seventh volume of the Battles and Fates of Warriors project continues the storyline from Europe in Flames. It is dedicated to two major European conflicts of the first half of the 18th century, the Great Northern War 1700–1721 and the War of the Austrian Succession 1740–1748. In the first, we will march with Swedish King Charles XII against Tsar Peter I, who defeated him at Poltava, and we will set sail to the northern seas with the Danish-Norwegian national hero Admiral Tordenskjold. In the second, we will witness battles between the armies of Maria Theresa and Frederick II at Mollwitz, Chotusice, Hohenfriedberg, and Žďár, and we will also visit Prague, captured and cleared by the French. Likewise, we will visit Flanders, where the French defeated the British and the Dutch in a stunning manner at Fontenoy. The course of the French part of the war and its conclusion will be followed through the imposing personality of Marshal Maurice de Saxe. The title Wars in Lace is not accidental, as they were fought bloodily but politely, gallantly, and those of higher rank went to their deaths with an elegance akin to their uniforms.
