Description
The author tells the story of Václav, based on a true event, whose conflicts with politically engaged neighbors adversely affect not only family relationships during his childhood but also lead to the collapse of his own family upon returning to his hometown. He realizes the extent of human vindictiveness when he ends up in prison due to the intrigues of a communist official's wife, losing both his wife and his three-year-old daughter.
