Chvála hor a lovu zdar – Bouzek Ota (2020)

Anyone who grew up in a village or a small town like I did, or even in a settlement of six cottages in the middle of the Jeseník forests like our children, cannot resist the desire to explore nature every day. Even long ago, back in my boyhood days, it was no different. My group of friends and I ran through the fields in every direction and knew well about every stork or dove nest, about the hare, about the deer that lay in the thicket, and about the rabbit families in the hedgerows. My desire to gain further knowledge of nature led me to study forestry and graduate as a forest engineer. Years later, our son completed the same forestry faculty in Brno and received his forest engineering diploma in the same hall. It is said that fortune favors the prepared. Perhaps that is why I served for a full thirty-seven years in all professional roles, from a gamekeeper to the director of the forest enterprise in the Jeseníky Mountains. Therefore, my praise for them is entirely appropriate. And to you, dear friends, fellow hunters, and other readers, I present with admiration the mountains and the stories of my and my son's first hunting success. Perhaps they will remind some of you of your own first hunting achievements.
