Description
The sixth volume of the Battles and Fates of Warriors project loosely follows the Wars Against the King. The title is not accidental, as flames of war swept across Europe from the Iberian Peninsula in the west to the Balkans and Hungary in the southeast with unprecedented force. Western and Central Europe was ravaged by the wars of Louis XIV, the Sun King, while the Turks pushed in from the southeast. In the stories of great clashes, we will traverse the battlefields at Blenheim, Fleurus, Malplaquet, Denain, Zenta, Saint Gotthard, and Temešvár, the defense of Vienna, the siege of Belgrade, and a number of other battlefields. The fates of warriors and the military art of the time are illustrated by the lives of the most famous French marshals de Turenne, de Luxembourg, and de Vauban, the English Duke of Marlborough, and one of the greatest commanders of the Habsburg monarchy, Prince Eugene of Savoy. The Battles and Fates of Warriors cycle is a loose continuation of the Knights' Battles and Fates series.
