Description
The aim is not only to describe important moments of Prague's Wenceslas Square but also to place them in the context of our broader history, primarily from the perspective of the people living in the respective periods. Each chapter presents a specific period and always has two parts. The first part is a chronological list of events in the square – political, cultural, and architectural. The second part features a scene taking place in the square always in the last year of the given period. The protagonists of the scene are people from the fictional family of Parejzl, so several generations appear here, with most characters appearing in two or three periods at different stages of their lives. The hidden characters are Saint Wenceslas and Charles IV.
