This Czech-language booklet commemorates the life of the distinguished Czech music journalist Jiří Černý (1936–2023), who shaped the musical tastes of several generations. He became known for his listening programmes, where he introduced audiences to the world of mainly rock and folk music, along with related musical fields, in an informed yet accessible way. Through his broad knowledge and distinctive voice, he taught thousands of people to listen actively to music in all its stylistic shades. Petr Sedláček, Jiří Černý’s friend, doctor and photographer, has assembled this collection of memories to mark what would have been Černý’s ninetieth birthday, accompanying it with selected photographs from his own archive.
