The fourth, updated, and expanded edition of the monograph General Practice Medicine is intended for medical faculty students, doctors in specialized training, and also practicing physicians, who may find inspiration for their further professional development. The general part reflects changes in legislation and the organization of medical care, as well as shifts in opinions within the community of general practitioners. The specificity of the field is documented by differences in the epidemiology of diseases and conditions, in the environments and conditions under which care is provided, and in the methods and approaches that the general practitioner and their colleagues in primary care use. The publication's general section focuses primarily on specific technologies that general practitioners apply in their activities and procedures, and on their unique relationship with patients. The special section again presents a comprehensive edition of forty-eight recommended diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for general practitioners, created according to methodology and guaranteed by the Society of General Medicine of the Czech Medical Association.
