The textbook is primarily intended for undergraduate medical students, but it can also serve students of bachelor's programs and for refreshing knowledge for postgraduate students and young doctors. The description of the digestive and respiratory systems maintains a traditional approach and structure: for individual organs, their functions are provided, and their descriptions are divided into macroscopic and microscopic anatomy. It follows with a description of their syntopy, position, and projection, as well as a description of vascular supply, innervation, and lymphatic drainage. Notes on clinical correlations are highlighted with a gray background. Each system is accompanied by a chapter on its development, growth, and significant congenital defects. Detailed notes, especially on developmental mechanisms, are printed in petite. Anatomical structures are named according to Terminologia Anatomica (1998) and commonly used Czech terms are also provided. The text is accompanied by 129 images, including images taken by various imaging methods. Most illustrations are in color and their descriptions are provided directly in the images.
