Description
Dr. Milena Černá (1942-2021) worked as a doctor at a dermatology clinic in Prague; among her close friends were Olga Havlová and many other personalities from the dissident movement, whom she treated during the normalization period, earning the nickname "the doctor of the chartists." After the November revolution, she was elected to the council of the capital city of Prague, where she served as chairwoman of the social committee. With the weight of her personality, she significantly contributed to the areas of social, health, education, and the support and protection of human rights. She participated in founding the Committee of Good Will - Olga Havlová Foundation, whose mission is to support non-profit organizations in the health and social sectors, and she was the director of this foundation for twenty years. The book-length interview by documentarian Monika Hodáčová, "Good People Hold the World," describes the admirable life arc of Milena Černá from childhood and studies through her career to memories of situations and personalities that profoundly influenced her life.
