The book The Czech Dispute over Milan Kundera, edited by Jiří P. Kříž, summarizes in three sections texts by 40 authors that relate from many perspectives to the accusations made against Milan Kundera in the weekly Respekt in 2008 and to Jan Novák's book Kundera. Czech Life and Times from 2020. It is a source book that captures, in one volume, the often passionate, biased, and personally charged journalistic debate from a temporal distance, thus showing that it is often about much more than just a dispute over the most successful and most translated Czech writer of the second half of the twentieth century and the following years, but about the very ability of Czechs to responsibly, truthfully, honestly, and above all sensitively relate to their own multifaceted and complex post-war past.
