The autobiography of musician Jiří Šimeček (* 1957), geographically specified by the slogan 'from Spořilov to Broadway and back,' is not just about his two significant bands. The first, Letadlo, became one of the most important and convincing bands of the Czech new wave, swept away by the onslaught of communist officials. The second, Toyen, was born in the post-November euphoria of the golden nineties as Šimeček's masterpiece, even abroad. The book Prague Calling, subtitled Going Your Own Way, is not just about music on stage, but also about the everyday patient organizational and managerial work. And since it really doesn't happen every day for a Czech rock band to perform in the USA and fulfill one of the boys' dreams, the book includes a CD with a recording of Toyen's concert from 1991 at the legendary New York club CBGB.
